The problem
Getting a race bike to the track is a logistics headache. A race bike has no license plate and runs slick tires that aren't street legal, so you can't just ride it there. You need a truck, a trailer, and a place to park both, which in San Francisco is its own expense. Then there's the gear: a generator, tire warmers, tools, and the know-how to adjust suspension between sessions. Get that wrong and you're slow at best, in a crash at worst.
So a lot of people never make it to the track. Novices are scared off by everything you have to know. Experienced racers go less than they'd like because hauling the bike is tiring and the equipment is expensive. What most of them actually want is someone who handles the transport, keeps the bike dialed in, and can spot when they're about to make a costly mistake.
My role
I started 31 Cats to be that person. I transport the bike, set it up at the track, help wrench small problems between sessions, and coach riders so they stay fast and safe. It's a service I own and run myself.
The part that's a design project: I built the whole experience around it. A clean, professional website where riders book a weekend in a few clicks, a live calendar of the season's track days, and interactive maps on each track page that show pricing by pickup location. Behind the scenes, the admin work and most customer email run on AI automation, so a one-person operation can feel like a real company.

What I built
The site is the front door to the whole service.
- A booking flow that lets a rider reserve transport and trackside help for a specific event without a back-and-forth.
- An AI powered calendar of Bay Area track days that feeds its data from fetching the web and my availabilty via calendars, so riders can see what's coming and book the dates that fit my schedule.
- Interactive pricing maps on every track page that quote a price based on where the bike gets picked up.
- AI-run back office: customer emails and admin are largely automated, which allows me to focus on what i enjoy the most, providing assitance to racer, and automate all the booking and back office process.

How it's going
In 2025 I worked with more than 30 customers, and every one of them booked again, reflecting high customer satisfaction. One rider put it simply after a trip: "...Because of a tight travel schedule, wouldn't have been able to make it up there without @31catscom and their great, safe, and responsive transport service. Already booked another track weekend with them!".
